Inner values for practitioner

January 2018, at the “Hunting and Fishing“ expo in Augsburg: For the first time I hold the new Mauser 18 in my hands. One feature of the rifle immediately catches my attention: the storage compartment in the stock. Being a bushcraft fan, I immediately know what has to go in there: a survival kit! Admittedly, some hunters may smile at that idea because only a few will need it. However, The storage space can also accommodate for numerous other useful things you might need while hunting. When the styrofoam wedge inside the stock is removed, it gives way to the storage space. In the new Mauser 18 Feldjagd the mechanics of the adjustable comb somewhat reduce the size of the storage space but there is still enough space for a selection of useful utensils. You will find a few tried and tested combinations on the following pages.

Mauser 18 Field Hunt – Pure precision

Tip:

Anything not used regularly should be heat-sealed in a plastic bag. The form of the bag should be similar to the form of the styrofoam wedge. Anything that could damage the vacuum bag should go into the center or be secured by using a piece of carton or cork. If in doubt when heat-sealing, always opt for the larger bag. This way, you are left with a tangible flap with which you will be able to comfortably pull the bag out of the stock when you need it.
