The new S 303 –
Bag Game in Style!

When the calls of the beaters and the barking of the dogs ring out and, soon thereafter, the boar burst out of the bushes, the hour of the new Sauer 303 is at hand. The new generation of this renowned semiautomatic rifle combines a stylish appearance with top efficiency and, just like a double rifle, delivers an accurate follow-up shot without having to manually work the action. But it also offers much more: Its self-loading mechanism reduces recoil and muzzle jump by almost 30 percent. Yet at the same time, the rifle remains unerringly accurate. That makes the new Sauer 303 the absolute queen of the hunt when ‘making bag’ is the order of the day and maximum concentration on the target is key.

The uncompromisingly optimized new S 303 unites reliability and the highest level of user-friendliness; the latter is thanks to its brilliantly crisp Black Magic trigger with a pull weight of only 950 grams (2.09 pounds) – a standard feature – as well as the addition of the ingenious MagLock magazine latch, which reliably prevents unintentional magazine loss. The Sauer Universal Mount (SUM) base, proven to be reliable and repeatable in the S 404 series, now also comes standard on the new S 303. This way, the same scope and mount can be used not only on SAUER’s premium bolt-action rifle but on SAUER’s premium semiautomatic rifle as well. Hard-chromed bores permanently protect the barrel against fouling and corrosion. Disassembly and cleaning are now easier than ever: The Miniature Universal Key (MUS) is built into the butt stock, where it doubles as a sling swivel loop. With the MUS, the forearm can be removed in next to no time with no need for any other tools. This exposes the mechanism in seconds and allows for quick cleaning – even in the field.

When it comes to reliability, the S 303 features some brilliant innovations: An optimized bolt design and improved gas porting guarantee high reliability and a long service life. The all-steel gas block provides a desirable forward weight distribution, aiding in a smoother swing on moving game. When paired with a choice of either a Select laser-grained walnut stock or an ultra-robust and fully ergonomic polymer stock, its slender, redesigned action body makes SAUER’s improved S 303 – all technical superlatives aside – a truly beautiful semiautomatic rifle.

The new SAUER 303 is offered with a choice of either the traditional Classic XT polymer stock, the Synchro XT polymer thumbhole stock, or the elegant Select walnut stock. There is also an Artemis variant available featuring stock dimensions suitable for ladies and other petite shooters. Since the butt socket for the S 303 now has the same dimensions as that of the S 404, other stock options – including the SAUER Ergo Heat butt stock with integral pistol grip heater – are now also available for the S 303 Synchro XT and the S 303 Classic XT.

The new S 303 is offered in .308 Win, .30-06 and 8×57 IS. The compact 51 cm (20 in) barrel is available with or without open sights.
